Why I Started Swim Girl at 12

Around age 12, I started noticing something was wrong with my skin. I was spending hours in the pool and the ocean, and chlorine was taking a toll. My skin felt tight, dry, and irritated. Over time, it started to affect my confidence, and practice became harder to look forward to.

If you swim, you probably know that feeling.

I wasn’t the only one

My teammates were facing the same challenges. None of us could find skincare made with swimmers in mind. We were spending our lives in the water, and the products we found weren’t built for that.

So I decided to make it

I’m a competitive swimmer, not a chemist, so I knew I couldn’t do this alone. With my parents’ help, I tested ingredients and combinations until I developed a facial serum. That serum became the foundation of Swim Girl Skincare.

My dad is a physician and biochemist, and my mom is a nurse practitioner trained in medical cosmetics and anti-aging therapies. They brought the science and the credentials. I brought the swimmer’s perspective. Together, we built the products I wished I’d had back then.

It’s not just chlorine

I’m an avid surfer, too. In the ocean, salt was drying out my skin on top of the chlorine. Swimmers and surfers spend their lives in the water, and that’s who Swim Girl is for.

What a routine looks like

Our products are organized into two simple 3-step routines.

For skin, you’ll use a face wash, our Clarifying Facial Serum, and a face lotion. Our serum is a lightweight formula with 10% niacinamide and 1% zinc, designed to help calm visible irritation from chlorine, sun, and salt.

For hair, you’ll use a shampoo, a conditioner, and a hair serum. I noticed chlorine was hard on my hair too, so I created this routine to match.

Each routine is designed to be easy to follow and to fit into a real training schedule, whether you’re in the water a few times a week or every day.
